Default toggle switch next to steering column

As some of you know, i'm still a newbie to Mustangs. But I was under the dash tryign to see why the brake arm was so loose and and relaxed when I noticed this toggle switch next to the steering column and under the headlight switch. It's a 69 fastback. Also if you got any idea about the brakes that would help too. Thanks.

does the switch have wires comming off of it? If so trace them to whatever they goto. As for your brake pedal, I have no clue, maybe loose or broken bolt somewhere?
Mine has a toggle on the underside of my dash and it's for my gauge lights, when the head lights are on, I can turn my gauge lights off and on. (I guess someone figured they needed to turn off their gauge lights for some reason)

Make sure it's only your gauge lights that are being turned off. It could also be wired through your tail lights. You should have a rheostat built into your headlight switch to dim your dash lights.

I'm assuming ford didn't put the toggle there. Could just be a hidden, rigged "ignition kill" put in by a previous owner.

well, i wasnt able to figure it out today. All i can say is that two wires come off it. One goes to a big cluster of others, i assume the power comes from there, and the other goes off up into the dash and to the right. It does say on/off on it though. I tried to fire up the engine to see if it was an ignition kill but the engine wouldnt start...which worries me cuz it was firing up the other day. Anyway, tomorrow the research shall continue.

Thats pretty funny. But I doubt that someone would install an engine kill switch, I wouldnt, I dont see the point in it. Unless its a race car or something. I bet its like Jinxed said, it probably turns off the gauge cluster lights. I wouldnt worry too much.

I've seen pics of emergency flasher toggle switches for older mustangs. Where were they mounted? or is it an aftermarket kind of thing?

The engine kill switch would be a kind of "theft deterrent" switch. (turn the relay to the starter off when you leave the car)
