Default installing ignition key

hey so i just got my car back from the body shop and the key ignition for the key is out of the dashboard,, trying to figure the best and easy way to put in and keep it in place, because i can slot it in the dash but it turns loosely,, i notice theres a hole beneath it in the dash area is that where i may have had a small bolt? id rather ask u guys than my local mustang shop because they are always unhelpful,

To best of my memory you should have the switch body, with an inner collar, a spring, and a chrome plated external retainer.

Sounds to me like you might not have the spring? ,,,, maybe...

Yea I don't have the spring, does it go in the hole beneath the ignition in the dash?

Yea the spring goes behind the dash, I edited my last post and stuck in a picture I pilfered from Mustangs Unlimited, you can see the spring on the body of the switch.

The spring pushes the body of the switch backward in order to keep the cam on the bezel engaged.

i think i know what i am mising.. i have exactly what is in the picture someone posted earlier. but i think there sopposed to be a collar exactly between the spring and the chrome part that is visible on the dash.. am i right?

The spacer goes against the spring, with the cup side toward the key, against the backside of the dash.
