Not really. Demand is very high. Does the price of classic cars come down when the demand is higher? Neither does the service.

Well, yes, but that included the tips and tax. Basline was $560. $80 to tack on chrome tips and the wonderful CA tax. You're right though, needs to come down.

The price of classics goes up because demand is high and supply is finite. Last I checked, there isn't an extremely limited supply of exhaust tubing or welding labor. Unless there's only one shop in a 50 mile radius, I wouldn't expect high demand to increase prices.

Take a look at MAC headers, I've got a pair for my '67 289 and they're supposed to fit PS cars w/o use of a drop bracket. My motors not back in yet so I can't comment on fit but read on more than one sellers website that they clear PS.

I don't know if you're doing any of the work yourself but you could buy an off the shelf dual exh. system prebent for ~$200 -$500 from Summit aluminized to SS your choice. You will have to match the front tubes to the headers but that should be about it. I'd try a shop farther away before spending 2X going price.

I invite you to get quotes yourself. I just got another quote for $550:

That's bent pipe, 2 Flowmaster 40s and R&R - tips not included.

Not really. Here's what I'm getting $550 quotes for (aluminized steel):

This kit, with shipping, is going to be about $450/460. I rather throw in the $100 and get it custom bent to my nooks and cranies and tack welded in place.

Yes, agree. It's a work in progress. The heads may or may not be addressed at this time but they're on the list.

Go with a nice set of Ceramic coated Tri-Y headers. They fit with no issues and give you plenty of ground clearance.
