Don't remove the the shifter- The attaching bolts are not accessable once the carpet is installed.

I think he meant the shifter bezel and boot.

What's better - Raylon or Nylon? Nylon is 100% nylon and Raylon is 80/20?

Yes I did mean the shifter bezel and boot (if you have a boot)

What's the 20 in Raylon? and is this for the backing of the carpet?

I forgot to mention one other tip.

If you are trimming the carpet and put the razor down for a minute so you can use both hands to stretch the carpet....make sure you pick it up without it being backwards. I did exactly that and when I went to cut the carpet it sliced my finger pretty good. Nothing a little super clue wouldn't fix but would have worked much better to pick up the razor aimed in the correct direction, LOL!

What do you do if you don't have the old carpet to trace out to the new one? Took my old carpet out last summer and threw it out, it was really bad! Well now it's time to install the new one and I don't have the old one to compare to.

Also about the shifter bezel. Mine is off because I ordered a new one. Should I put that back one before trying to put the carpet in? I don't understand how you can't get the bezel back on if you put the carpet in with the bezel off. Sorry about not understanding why.

You don't need the old carpet to compare. Just lay down the new and look to see what needs to be trimmed.

I don't know how difficult it is to deal with an automatic shifter, but with a standard shifter, the bezel and boot mounting screws can be accessed with the carpet is in.

I use an ice pick to locate the holes.
