Default Gas leak. Grrrrrrr

So I got the mild 302 I built for my dad in his 66 coupe. Fired it up, sounds and runs awesome but today while I was doing some tuning on the carb I noticed a bigger issue. The hard gas line going from the pump to the carb is leaking at the pump. I tried another line I had and no luck so I bought a hard line from the parts house and it still leaks. The pump is brand new and is just a stock mechanical pump.

Could the fitting on the pump be screwed up? Any other ideas or suggestions?

I had a summit fuel pump for a bit and when I got it I noticed straight away that the threads on the pump were poorly machined and had large gaps in them... I think there were other issues with it as well...

Well for what its worth carter makes a really nice one if you get the 120 GPH model.

Ya I think Im going to take it off tomorrow and get a different one and hopefully that will solve my problem. I got the same pump on my car and havent had any problems with it leaking and we've used them in the past. Must just be a fluke one that got through or something.

I know you probably are using it, but I have to ask. You are using the teflon tape for fuel lines on the threaded connections? Even if the threads are loose (not terribly), the teflon tape should fill in those gaps and make it sealed from leaks. I only mention this since I have seen a few people that don't use it on their lines at all.. Some people mention they never heard of the stuff and just use the metal on metal connections.
This is not the teflon tape that plumbers use on water or NG lines, the gasoline will dissolve this stuff which would eventually cause a leak through the threaded connectors. (I made this mistake.) The fuel line tape is thicker and available at any auto supply shop. Every threaded connection from the tank to the carb should have the threads wrapped with a couple rounds to prevent connector leaks.
Take care.
