If im not mistaken I believe that audi r8's use led headlights, and those are BRIGHT! Easily visible on a Sunny day! There may be leds surrounding a more traditional bulb type but im sure that leds are used too, so leds CAN be very bright but idk if these ones are

I ran into a guy 2 weeks ago with them during the day. They looked plenty bright and he said they were much brighter the the stock lights they replaced. I saw the Truck Lite LEDs about a month ago online for the first time but for that price... not gonna happen!

Mine has Sylvania Xtravision and relays. The XV bulbs are actually the same wattage as the newer capsule bulbs which is 55 low 65 high. The regular 6024 I believe is the number are only like 35 watts low in halogen form. This setup puts out plenty of light an maintains the factory look.
I don't like anything like HID or Xenon coated blue bulbs etc that give off the bluish white color. To me the color is false and its harder to see stuff. That bluish light just scatters. I imagine the LED to be the same way, just like the white LED flashlights.

Do you have to cut the back out of the light bowl to get the Hella H4s or Xenon to fit? All I am after is the brightest lights. I would rather not spend that kinda money and am not in love with the LEDs, but I have been reluctant to move to a different bulb than stock b/c of the trouble of retrofiting the mounts.
Edit: I have relays already setup, but just running the Sylvania stock Halogens. The brightness is not candle power for sure, but it is not all that great.

I went with Hella halogens from Summit. They use HB-2 (9003) bulbs, are $40 each, and are twice as bright as the old Mustang lamps. You'll probably need relays to drive them (wire size) but they plug into the vintage lamp plugs. No mods to headlight mounts/buckets/bowls. Just install like old sealed beams. Has very nice pattern - just like new lights.
