Default Finally Got the Oil Leak Stopped..

I was about to pull the filter off again and then replace the nipple that it screws onto, thinking that it may be the cluprit. The oil filter has been leaking and no matter what I would do it wouldnt seal.. Tightened it hand tight, really tight.. new o-rings and then I just decided to tighten the crap out of it right after a 20 minute drive.. The motor was at operating temp and I put one of those cup wrenches to the filter and the damn thing stopped leaking. Its been a pain for the last year or so.. and all I had to do is tighten the crap out of it when it was hot.

Im guessing the rubber filter o-ring just needed to be hot enough to compress more and create a better seal.

At least its not leaking any more..

I also got black slinky wire runs to wrap up my engine bay wires.. It looks soo much better now that the wires are all in hidden in the sheath..

Glad you got it fixed. I've heard (but never seen) of instances where the gasket from the old filter stayed on the engine and having 2 gaskets (old and the new one on the new filter) can cause leaks.

Might be worth a check at the next oil change.

Checked it.. It was just not sealing itself correctly. It sure is a relief though, my driveway was getting pretty bad.. As well as my undercarriage. No more fumes either, the car smells fresh again without all that oil baking onto the exhaust as it blows back on the freeway.

That's strange that it would have to be that tight to not leak. I have seen the old gasket stick before...usually from someone putting the filter on dry. Most of the time you catch it when the new filter doesn't go on very far. Maybe the surface that it seals on has a "bad spot".

I know what you mean with the wiring too. Just did that to my car here recently. What a difference.
