Chopping the frame rail is not as big as it sounds, it's just a metal flange that's been bent up and spot welded. It's a 10min task. If your framerails aren't bent to bad...it's a quick install.

I used some that I got from MU or CJ. I think it was CJ Pony because of the free shipping and the sale they had. I got some that were about 100 bucks. I got the bolt in ones because everyone said they fit better. It also allowed me be install them and then have my muffler shop weld them when the exhaust was being done. They made a huge difference. My car is not a drag car or a road racing car, so I don't think it is neccassary to have the more expensive ones.

My car feels great with these installed.

Here are the ones I have. They required no modifications other than drilling a few holes. They fit really well.

You should also consider the Shelby style export brace and a monte carlo bar. Those will help your cars rigitity as well and don't cost much at all.

Does anyone make a Monte Carlo brace and export bar for the big '71-'73s?

Maiers racing subs are great. They weld in four places and fit under the car like they were made for it.

Really like the Global West sub frame connectors. They weld in, the price was good, and the tubular sub frame connectors are less prone to flex than the square ones. Understand though, they don't look oem which is something I wasn't concerned with.

Exactly. OEM customers get TCP, and they are a bit more difficult than Global to install. But global is easier because the TCP just never seems to mate flat in the rear against the frame rails. Can't go wrong with either though.

OEM look is not a concern for me with the subframes, I just want something simple and strong that wont break the bank

TinMan connectors. Good price, easy install, huge improvement to body strength and once in and painted looks as if they belong. They alsi fit the contour of the floor perfectly and no need to cut/beat the floors to make they fit. As James stated above you really are not chopping the rails up but simply cutting the folded up end off. Cut, drill a few holes, slide them in, weld them up & paint.
