I agree with what rst08tierney said about getting a monte carlo bar and a one piece export brace. You can get them for around 50 bucks or so.

I have both of them.

They can be a PITA to put on though.

Here is another thread about them.

Are you guys interested in a rental tool if you will ? I've thought about this 100 times. For those who can't make it. Two plates on either side that bolt to where the shock brackets go, with a bar in the middle. Adjustable rod ends on both sides. Crank and spread until she's where you want it.

i have thought about getting a tractor link(about 25dollars) cutting it inhalf and sleaving it with 11/2 pipe with the plates to the body. this has left and right threads so you spread it as needed. like cprstreetmachines was talking about.

I am glad you asked. Looking at replacing my export brace and adding a Monte Carlo here pretty soon.

I was wondering. Would it help to jack it up on stands with the tires on? Thinking the tires would add some weight for a downward pull...

I was also considering using a 2 x 4 and a jack if possible?

That sounds like a good idea to me.

When I did mine I jacked it up on the frame rails under the front seats like 2+2 said. I used 2 floor jacks, since we have a large one and a small one. I didn't bother with jack stands. That will work too though.

I would leave the wheels on, since there is no need to take them off. Also this way if the car falls of the jack it wont crash to the ground or on your foot.

No on the stands, the idea is to relive all pressure from the towers. The weight of the tires is minor. Everyone has their own trick for the install but IMO anything more then a floor jack is over kill for MINOR (the 1/2in to 3/4in) sag.
