Default smoke is coming out of Oil Cap

Hi all,

from time to time I see some smoke coming from engine through oil cap. Is this normal? I did change the oil cap (better one with gaskets) but it happens again. Any clues ?

Depends. If you have a PCV valve, make sure it's clean and operating properly.

The hose connected to the middle of the RH valve cover is the PCV hose, the metal thing inserted into the valve cover is the PCV valve.

Good luck, I hope that fixes it for you.

well, it seems fine, I mean I blew it and the air goes through, I will check the hose that goes to intake I guess.

assuming the pcv valve works correctly is this something I should be worried about ?

See if the PCV is sucking air at idle. Just pull it out and feel the end while idling. It should grab pretty good. The spacer plate under the engine could be clogged, a long shot but I've seen it. Other, bad things, could be responsible.

I did check it. It does grab, don't know how to determine if it's 'pretty good' but grabbed my finger

the smoke does not appear to often so I assume PCV doesn't work perfectly all the time, however I see a bit of oil around oil cap and dip stick, not much but still.

The oil pressure gauge most of the time indicates high pressure, not always, but most of the time. On cold engine it does so I guess smth is wrong.

Thanks for tips, any more ?
