yeah check the clutch tack-up
Could be the clutch is slipping or could be worn

Contratulations on the first drive!

When my 65 was still an I6 3 speed it used to do the same type of thing starting up in 1st gear. I always attributed it to the fact that the clutch was not a diaphram type. It only has 3 prongs on it. I think that is what causes the clutch chatter.
