TCP Bolt-on Front Coilover Conversion?
Has anyone here used this yet? It looks to be pretty good and easy to do and you can even use it with stock UCAs. It comes in single or double adjustable. Mustang depot has the double adjustables on sale for $887 right now.
I am about to redo the suspension on my car very soon and I was going to get the following:
Opentracker:
Street UCA (non-roller)
Street LCA (non-spherical)
Roller Spring Perches
Roller Idler Arm
Edelbrock Front Shocks
560lb Springs
I was just wondering if anyone has done this coilover conversion yet to see how it went and how they like it. I am seriously looking into it because you can use the stock UCA.
Thanks for any info!

I don't really see much point in the kits that mount the coilover setup to the UCA. All that gives you is an adjustable ride height/strength coil. Half the point of a good coilover setup is to mount the coilover to the LCA for increased leverage which provides better suspension response without increasing ride harshness.
Thanks Starfury. I do need to replace the shocks in my car while I am doing all this work to the front. Are the Edelbrocks the way to go or is there a better shock in the same price range? I see that the Bilstein street shock is about $15 more per shock. Are they better than the Edelbrocks? I have KYB Gas-Adjusts right now but they have a VERY harsh ride. Thanks for any info!

What kind of springs are you running?
I like my Edelbrocks. They ride smoother and handle better than the Gas-A-Justs I took off. That said, Bilsteins are supposed to be very nice. I believe Street or Track has them custom valved for early Mustangs with different springs (probably what you're looking at). I definitely wouldn't mind a set.

I don't mind my KYB's really, but I might go to a better shock later just to balance the suspension more precisely. If you have the bones a coil over conversion is nice. The stock type setup can handle just as well, but like Starfury said, when you mount the coil to the lca the suspension has better leverage, so you can get the same wheel rate(what we're really after) with a lighter spring, so it rides better...and may handle better over rougher roads.
For the rear I may stay with leaves. Run Cal Tracs for forward bite, since you get an instant center advantage, then use the Fays 2 Watts Link for lateral control and improved roll center...which lets you use a nice spring/shock setup. You end up with a very well handling decent hooking setup that costs a lot less.
Also, don't be afraid to use poly bushings. If you keep everything CLEAN when you install them, and grease it all properly, no squeaks. The ride will be firmer though, but I've found the Prothane poly bushings to not be ridiculously stiff.
The Opentracker stuff is nice too. Lotta options out there.

Thanks for the info guys. I just got the springs off and I am trying to tell what they are. They aren't the original springs. They look close to new but I can only find a stamp on it that has H/C 01 03. Can anyone tell me what weight they are or if they are drop springs with just this number? Thanks!
The coilovers that replace your stock springs are useless only thing you gain is adjustable ride height. The coilovers that go down to the lower a arm are worth the money they give a smoother ride and handle better.I would use Progressive rate springs they are nice they ride smooth but once you get on it acts like a thicker spring best of both worlds.
