Default Widest Tire Size???

What is the widest tire you can fit under a 1969 coupe without tubbing the rear? Im looking for a pretty wide tire maybe 10-15 inch range. Id like to get an answer about this so i can decide to tub the rear now while i have the trunk pans out. Also if anyone has tubbed their mustang i would love to hear how you did it

That is the largest tire for each wheel size. I would say 275/40ZR17 is pretty friggin' big for a car designed for F70-15 or smaller tires.

why is there nothing for 16x9?

I have 245/60R14 on my 14x7 or 8 rims and it looks like i could fit a lot more... do they just not make anything wider for 14" rims?

Dont put too much into that chart. You can go bigger with the proper offset. It says a 235 is the largest on a 65-66.I have 275's on a 17X8 on mine.

You could probably fit a 295 in the rear.

I run 275 on a 18X9 rim and It's tight. In side outer fender lip is rolled and it's close to the spring but still some room. I would attempt a bigger tire but not without moding the inner fender.
