Slap File for Body work?
Does anyone know where there might be a video or instruction for using a slap file for body work?
My door has a crease in it from a missing catch in the door hinge, so the previous owner allowed the door to swing open and use the sharp edge of the fender to stop the door, which caused a hard crease on the outer door skin. I purchased a slap file since I cannot swing a body hammer inside the small area of the door (and was thinking about using a spoon as well for the door lines).
I am used to woodworking, so the thought of swinging a fie is alien to me. I believe you would press a dolly on the inside of the dent (inside of the door) with a few pounds of pressure and hit the outside of the dent/door with the slap file in a spiral motion, working the outside first, inward toward the deepest part of the dent. This will bring the dent out (the teeth will shrink the metal, bringing the dent out even though I am hitting inward toward the dent?). Hitting the opposite of what you would think, hitting the dent to bring it out? Is this correct? That is the most information I have been able to figure out, so full instruction and possibly a video would really help!
Anyone know where or have one? (I've searched)
Thanks for any help of this! I would really like to work it without disassembling the welds on the door.
