Unhappy Carburator

OK so there I was...I got all of the electrics working the car fires but wont run.

So I was thinking it has to be fuel related since I can use starter fluid and she fires fine.

I pull the carburator and obviously by the condition of the seals, it is either a reman or someone rebuilt it recently. So I clean the outside and bring it in the house for a rebuild.

Well, the inside was completely caked with jelly. When gas evaporates it leaves behind a thick jelly like substance. Man I bet I spent two hours cleaning it. Then the rebuild was more of a pull apart and clean. I went ahead and rebullt it, since the old parts were so gunked up.

I am now wishing I would have pulled the carb a year ago, and dumped out all of the fuel.

Soaking it in Chem-Dip overnight usually does the trick.
