Default another quick q on ignition box

mallory ignition box says a white wire is a "trigger" and needs to "connect to points, electronic ignition amp output or to green wire of a timing accessory"

well i dont have points and dont have a timing accessory so im assuming the EIA. i guess this would this be the + wire off the distributor?

if you have the pertronix distributor this only has two cables as far as I know.
red and black.
the red one is to feed 12V to the module and the black one is the trigger

what distributor do you have and what mallory box. I rather check on manuals before telling you crap ;-)

ya its a pertronix distributor and a mallory hyfire vi 6al. i figured i had all of em figured out but this white one is killin me

theirs 2 big ones: black and red which is batt + and ground of course

small red: connects to 12v source
orange and small back : + and - coil respectively
yellow: tach

THEN trigger wires either a points circut (white) or magnetic pickup circut (green/violet).
the green/violet i wont use since is plugs into aftermarket pickups and it doesnt come close to hooking up to anything

the white one one the other hand sounds like it would connect to an electronic ignition amplifier.....ie: electronic distributor. i got a red and black wire comin off the distributor and im assuming id snip one of those wires and splice em together. so the black one off the distributor?

i checked on that one, have a look if it's the right document

you should use Figure 8 on page 6

Basically in such a way:
- heavy red and black to battery
- orange and thin black to coil. NOTHING ELSE MUST BE CONNECTED AT COIL!!!!

so you have a few cables left:

all the wires that originally went to coil+ (this includes the red one from pertronix).
like: wire from ignition switch, pertronix red, cable for electric choke or electric fuel pump activation ...
all that needs to be wired together like before. And add the small red from mallory to it. this will activate the box once you switch ignition on. most importantly: those most not be connected to the coil anymore.maybe use a bolt-on-connector to chassis or somthing (keep those wires away from chassis ground), you don't want all that dangling around. it even says "original wire that was at coil+" in the diagram.

then you have that black cable from pertronix. That connects to the white one of mallory box. this tells the box when to fire.

the magnetic pickup is not used (green/purple). don't connect antwhere

job done ...

actually i dont think the FAQ has this but this site is a wonder. its a msd box and a mock up on a '69 with a 351w but worked perfectly for me. good source for anyone else that got stuck in my position
