Default trunk weatherstrip

Starting to put weatherstrip on trunk but am not sure of the orentation. The seak has a split on one side. Does anyone know if the split is turned inward or outward?

I put mine on with the slit inward because the flat part is fatter and I figured that would be on the outside to keep water from getting in and it fit in the channel better.

Thankc Marshall, I understand what you are talking about the only thing is it seams to make the corner turns better with the slit turned outward. My painter removed it so I didn't get a look at how it was on. Thanks Bret

Np. Its a pain to put on but I just used painters tape to keep the seal up and inplace. Left it on for about 1 day and took it off. If the trunk is off then that would make it a lot easier.

Seam definately goes inward. You don't want to channel the water around the seam and into the trunk.

Blue masking tape works great, put it every six inches or so, closer on the corners. Start at the trunk lock area and work around to the other side. You should have a little extra, just cut it with a razor. and glue the seam.

True, which makes it amazing that the factory installed them with the lid already on the car.
