Default 65 Convertible Deck (Trunk) Torsion Bars

I am looking for some images of the deck lid torsion bars on a Convertible. I have an early 65, don't know if it matters.

Mine were lost when I sent it to the paint shop and I picked up some from a coupe on eBay (read they were the same) but they don't fit properly. Have the green Ford Body book and the sketch indicates a difference on the Conv body (style 76). I also noted that the support is torsion bar support in the center is different on a convertible.

I have a ton of pix from coupes but i am looking for some from a convertible.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Randy

I would have said the lid, hinges, and springs were the same coupe or convertible. These can be a pain to install, though. Here's a thread with pics:

Based upon the previous posts, I thought they were the same also. But the green Ford Body book shows the torsion bar coming in from the back of the hinge and the center support is a strap not a wavy bracket.

When you try to install as per the photos you referenced, the rod will not fit above the pin of the hinge. This is because the convertible compartment has a different angle then the coupe.

Thanks for the reply. Maybe someone has a picture of the rods at the hinge and the center support.

Here are two pictures from another post. The green car is a convertible. The beige is a coupe. Note the end of the rod that is attached to the fixed part of the hinge. The convertible (green) comes in from the back and the end of the rod is sticking out into the middle of the truck. The coupe (beige) starts over the front and the end of the rod points towards the quarter panel.

thoughts?
