depends, where you sell it and whats inside.

I paid 250 bucks for a "posi" rear 8 inch. and Ive seen them go for over 400.

I sold two standard 8" rears with 2.79s for 50 bucks a pop.

Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see anything being offered for sale in this thread. I did see an inquiry as to the value of an item, which is a fair question.

I would say $250 for a 65-66 8" Equalock drum-to-drum would be a steal around here. (Northeast) Typically a conventional 65-66 8" goes for $200.

As long as he takes this advice to the classifieds, he should be in the clear.

I sold the 8" open diff rear end from mine for $50 on craigslist. A guy was using it to convert a 6 cyl 4-lug to 5-lug. One call, one buyer. What you get depends on finding the right guy at the right time.

Around here the 65/6 8 inch rears are getting hard to find since they are a 2 year only rear end $50 is way to to cheap for a 65/6 rear. The bare housing is worth more than that. $250 is not a bad price for any 65/6 8 inch.

the rear coming from a GT has no bearing its the same as any 8 inch.... unless it came from a K code car and is a 9 inch its worth maybe 75-100$

if its a 9 inch for a 65-66 then its worth a good bit more...
