I'll recommend JBA. They are made very well.

I don't think they're made $900 well. Doug's Headers and FPA are very, very nice products.

I have heard that they are very nice headers, but I can't see spending 1000 bucks for headers though. That just does not make any sense to me.

i agree with tx65. i wouldn't pay 1000 for headers when the performance would be negligable over aftermartket headers.

Performance, yes. Quality, no. There's a difference between hooker comps and FPA's or Doug's or JBA's. Thicker flanges, thicker tubing, better welds, better finish, better fit. These are the things you're paying for. I've seen pics of full-length FPA's that tuck up so well that they sit above the frame rails.

Exactly. Thats why I got the JBA headers. They are stainless, and the flange is thicker as well as the gauge of the tubing. My JBAs were about 400 or so if I remember right.

If you have a bunch of extra cash, the FPA headers probably would be the best way to go. I doubt most people have that much to spend on headers though.

He was saying the JBA Tri-Y ceramics are something like $900. FPA's are $650 or so, iirc. I'll be getting FPA's when I get around to it.

To the OP, do you run power or manual steering? We tried to use the Tri-Y's with our '66 289 with power steering, and they don't fit. There is a steering relocation kit to help, but it lowers the slave cylinder closer to the ground, and in our car's case, things still didn't fit. We went with a set of MAC ceramic coated longtubes (For a 86-93 Mustang) that run about $360 and they have worked quite nicely. We've had them on for 4 years and have had no leakage issues and the ceramic coating has held up reasonably well. The only downside is that I can't run a clutch cable conversion kit with these headers because one of the tubes goes in front of the cable mounting hole in the bellhousing.

Here's a shot of them installed:
