289 four speed hurst shifter

Default 289 four speed hurst shifter

im looking at a 66 mustang coupe with a 289 four speed manual with hurst shifter. the guy says its stock but i didnt now if that year came with the shifter or not. if any one knows that would be nice dont have vin number.

Not a chance. Ford switched to the Hurst in 1970 (I think the BOSS got it in 69).

Not that it's necessarily a bad swap. As long as the shifter isn't filled with sand, it'll be more precise than the factory shifter, if a bit noisier and more vibration prone. The factory shifter isn't bad, per se, but the bushings tend to wear out after a couple years causing the whole unit to rattle and providing sloppy shifting feel.
