Default ignition coil help asap please!!

ok so the other day it was raining pretty bad and since my 68 is my dd i had no choice. when i got to my destination i heard a weird crackling, looking under the hood i find a visible spark traveling between and along my ignition coil and where my spark plug wire runs above it, the engine is misfiring and such because of this... could it be that the ignition coil went bad, spark plug wire has moisture in it? Ive left it alone for 3 days now. I bought an msd ignition coil and a spare spark plug wire, hopefully i can fix it tonight... sadly, its in the parking garage of my work. should i try changing the plug wire and see what happens or change the coil. Help ASAP would be cool as im about to leave.

Probably too late now but it sounds like one of the wires is worn out and the insualtion is allowing spark through, I'd change the coil wire at a min. and the corresponding spark plug wire to be safe. I don't think your coil could cause this. Can you zip tie the wire away from the coil wire, wires shouldn't cross or touch anyway.

Change your entire wire set, not just the coil wire. That's a really halfass way to do things. A decent wire set will run you ~$30 and you'll at least know that they're all good.

Can you tell I sell parts?

This. It's the only correct way to do it.
