I6 to v8 swap
I am going to swap my I6 with the 302 and want to know something.
a mechanic once told me that the original engine my car had was a v8, and the guy that had it before me changed it for some reason. Iwant to know how i can tell if my car was an original V8 or if it really was a I6.
I want to know because i've been hearing that if you swap to a V8, that i have to change the brakes and alot of other things, and that if it was an original V8 i dont have to change that many things. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

This is how to decode your VIN and warranty(See pic)
Here are the engine codes:
T Code = 200 c.i. @ 120 h.p. w/9.2:1 compression and a one barrel carburator.
C Code = 289 c.i. @ 200 h.p. w/9.3:1 compression and two barrel carburator.
A Code = 289 c.i. @ 225 h.p. w/10.0:1 compression and a four barrel carburator.
K Code = 289 c.i. @ 271 h.p. w/10.5:1 compression and a four barrel carburator.

Thanks for the help, it cleared up alot of questions.
I just found out that my car was an original inline 6.
What should i do now?
should i still go on with my plan of swapping to a 302?

Do the swap, I am doing the same thing with my '66 coupe. List of my ideas on what to change: motor, transmission from 3sp to T5, driveshaft, 9" rearend. I am not changing the front suspension right now, I will have to see how it looks and drives after installing the motor. Let me know if you start, I would like to know wht all you do as well..
i will post as i go on with the swap, hopefully in the next 2 months.
I already have money for the engine but not for the suspension and other stuff.
I guess i'll put the engine first and then go on from there.
