Default Engine temp

Hey guys,

What's a optimum running temp for a motor? I have a 347 stroker motor here in sunny So Cal. It's running at about 160 - 170 now and it's a fresh motor (less than 20 miles on it).

Once again, thanks for the input.

160-170 is definitely cold. These motors were designed to run at 200-210F. Ideally, the hotter the engine the better, until things start getting damaged. Hotter engine temps mean less quench which means more fuel burned.

Put a high-flow 192F thermostat in to imrove combustion efficiency and reduce carbon buildup in the chambers.
