Default Best Riding 1" lowering springs???

i know alot of you classic mustang owners have done various improvements to your cars suspensions. i would like to know which brand of lowering springs has the best ride. i know it will be stiffer but there must be a little difference between some the the brands out there. looking for the most comfortable ride after dropping it 1".

I'll bump it and add my question too:

I have 600 rate 1 inch lowering springs from Virginia Mustang. They ride very good. My understanding is that the 620 is the harshest.

Have you dont the "Shelby Drop"? This will drop the front down about 5/8" and improve driving/handling provided that the proper alignment is done. For me, I like keeping the old original sagging springs coupled with a quality shock, then dropping the front uppers 1", most of the time it flattens the stance insted of the nose up rake. I have had trouble with the aftermarket springs that are imported from India, poor or no quality control and after taking the calipers to a set, I'm done with them. Anyway if you are going the re-spring route buy American. Also don't forget it takes time for the springs to settle, like a few weeks at least. Good luck.

Yes, before you do anything, do the "drop". It lowers the front end about 5/8", and dramatically improves handling due to the change in geometry.

I would have to guess that progressive rate springs would be more comfortable than standard type springs...

www.eatonsprings.com

They will make any ride hight and stiffness you want. Had my set made there and the price was close to "off the shelf" ones. I think they make the ones for NPD.

I bought the NPD 550# (5310-2B-$84) for my '67 w/289, did the Shelby/Arning 1" drop installed KYB GR-2's all around with 4 1/2 mideyes in rear and like the ride and sporty feel. Ride is not jarring or washboard, nice compromise. Later I may upgrade to better shocks (Biltsein, Koni, etc.) if I can afford and need but for <$100 for 4 shocks the KYB's work nicely. The suspension is a package of course and needs to work together like engine parts. It's also subjective I've read where some feel the 620's are rock stiff and other's like them, it's a preference and depends on what the other components are (soft/hard shocks, big sway bar, etc.).

Like Jon, I have pretty much the same setup on my '67. Contour 550# springs from National Parts Depot (5310-2B-$84) and KYB GR-2 shocks all the way around. I love the way my car handles after the Shelby drop and with all new front suspension pieces. It's not stiff and will corner way more than I am willing to push it. With my stock pizza cutter 205/70/14 tires on it sits pretty low, almost 2" of tire inside the front fender wells. It doesn't bottom out though. It really helps being on here to find information. I researched my suspension almost a year before finally deciding on what parts should go together. Best of luck.

Default Lowering springs

I bought these from Mustangsunlimited.com. I was worried that they would give me a rough ride. Actually I could barely even notice a difference!
