Yeah, getting the windsor instead. Hope it was a good choice. Picked it for many reasons.
Weight
Ability to put a cheaper manual against it.
Bolt in ease.
Popularity(confident in part availability)

Did I make a good choice? I want to fix it up and do something mild to help the performance before I drop it in, what is good to do to a motor that may or may not be in running condition, and what is a good cheap performance jump for these motors, without breaking the bank? I really want to throw a stroke crank in there since I love telling people it had a large cubic inch engine in it. What did the mach 1 come with?

That's a good engine. With current parts availability, you can do pretty much anything you want, from mild to wild. Before picking parts, decide what you wan that engine to do.

Stroke it to a 408 or 427 and slap some TEA heads on it with a custom cam. It'll be a 500hp torque monster on pump gas easily.

was about to say the same, stroke to 408. same weight (probably even a bit less with the new rotating assembly) and will roast tyres guaranteed

+1 good choice or budget minded fun. Lots of choices for upgrades on that motor so you can beef it up as money allows. Doesn't get the bragging rights of the 428/429 motors but should be capable of getting you all the hp you want.

Start with a 351w & you order a 408 stroker kit.. or a 393 kit or a 427 kit.
