Heres an inexpensive template and proper sized drill bit, also a great article. Good thing is you can usually sell it once you are done.

I'm currently running 1" lowered springs in the front. would the shelby drop be an overkill?

Well, a 1" drop in the spring, and maybe 5/8" from the "drop", that's up to you, and the quality of the roads in your area. I'd rather have the drop than lower springs. Lower springs only lower the car, the drop does a lot more than that.

Well, would 5/8" lower than what you have be a problem?

beacuse I already put on the 1" lowered springs. my passenger side fender rubs a little bit due to the fact that the previous owner never told me about an accident he had with that car. But, after reading this post the shelby drop sounds really instresting, I'm wondering if the shebly drop and the lowered spring is too low

How come the PDF template moves the drivers side holes back 1/8" and the steel template I bought from ORP is the same for both sides?......

You probably got the wrong template. the 67-70 drop template is different then the 65-66 template as you see in the PDF.
The top template is the 65-66 one, the bottom is the 67-70 template, compare what you bought to the PDF.
