Default 92 AOD ????

Would I be able to use a 92 5.0 AOD transmission as pretty much a bolt in replacement? Im sure the lengths are different but it seems like a good idea. I have found both, a t-5 and everything to go along with it, and an AOD with an attached 5.0, on craigslist for cheap and if I go with one Im just trying to figure out which one would be easier to install. The OD gear ratio in both is about the same so, I guess an auto wouldnt be too bad, and the kids would be able to drive it easier..

the AOD is a pretty easy swap....iirc the correct swap flywheel for 28oz balance is the 351c fmx from 71-73

you will need to shorten the d/s and you will need a TV cable for a carb setup and to adjust it properly else the tranny will burn up....

add the AOD and a stall converter and some 4.10s and you will have a peppy auto that can cruise on the highway

The t5 may save you from replacing that 2.75 rear gear of yours since 1st gear ratio is a higher number IIRC. With a 2.75, you really don't need an OD...

I was planning on going with some 3.55's and a trac loc as soon as I could, but not too sure about the tranny yet.

Yea,, I just read that the AOD can take a 4.10 down to a 2.46, is that about right.

With 4.11s and an AOD, you'll end up right about where you are now on the hiway, but take off like a jackrabbit in 1st.

4.1x is the only way to go. Heck I used them in my old AOD 5.0 and now with the Mach I.
