Default Engine Painting

Were the timing cover and water pump originally painted or left bare aluminum? I think they were left bare, but my old brain is letting me down. They say that the memory is the first thing to go, and mine has already packed for the trip.

I'm pretty sure they were painted...about 90% sure anyway. Think my brain is planning on car pooling to the airport with you now that I think about it.

I believe the engines were painted after assembly so those parts must have been painted. But I have been wrong before when I was sure I was right.
