Default Getting a radio for my '68

Hi guys,

I want to put a radio in my '68. First of all because I need some tunes while sitting in traffic every day and also because it will look a lot nicer when there's no gaping hole in my dashboard. I'd like to have something with the original style bezel.

I see these a lot:

Not exactly cheap I think for what it is. And I don't want a CD changer. Besides radio all I need is the ability to hook up an iPod. Are these radios any good or are there better solutions?

Recommendations are welcome!

Can't comment on the radio or brand but you might want to do a search with the brand name and see if there are any complaints by users.

I went the DIN route as i wanted to be able to upgrade my radio as new electronics come out (waiting for an affordable radio w/a harddrive to load my songs on via USB/laptop or who knows what next?). I bought an already ruined (someone had drilled holes in it) faceplate off fleabay for cheap and cut/dremeled it to fit a DIN chasis:

Made a rear bracket to attach it solidly out of alum. flat, overkill but I overdo things...:

I have the original AM radio in the dash and a wire that sticks up between the seats that plugs into my iPod and runs to the trunk where it feeds my amp directly. Works great, is theft resistant since only the AM shows, and since I use the iPod, i have my entire library.

sir custom autosound makes cheaper versions of their radios with fm radio and ipod hook up capability which is all you need and since you should be hooking up to your speakers to an amplifier anyways it shouldnt matter the wattage outputs

all you'll ever need and more for $135 bucks

He doesn't want a CD, he wants to use an iPod. CA has One for $240 that has a USB input for controlling the iPod. For $180, it looks the same, but you use the AUX input and must control the iPod itself. Me, I'd go the extra $60.

If you have the original radio there are guys out there that will restore and update that to include am/fm plus aux inputs for cd or ipod.
Here's a good article about it:

It's like $300, but for the classic look it might be worth it.

More like $400 and to switch from FM to AM you turn it off and back on?!? Also, 2 channel, 80 something watt, no inputs except for CD changer.

I'd go with the Custom Autosound one that looks like an AM/FM but the pushbuttons control the functions, instead of the channel (manual tuning only). It has inputs for thumb drives, etc.

He said he didn't want a cd changer didn't say anything about a in dash player. Most of the special radios that fit the stock hole are way over priced and don't last long.Look up reviews on custom audio sound.200+ for a crappy one that might last a year or 100 for a good din size that will sound better and last longer.
