replacing the fender aprons
hey guys after looking through the 66 ive decided to just put new aprons, shock towers, and radiator support in so that i know the front end is solid. from the bubbling under the paint on them now they look to be covered in patches of rust. how straight forward is this gonna be? ill be removing the engine and radiator. should i just hang a section at a time to keep it square or remove it all and just put it together according to the factory measurements? thanks guys
well you gotta make sure everything is properly aligned...but basically if you can do that its just drilling of spotwelds and plug welding them back up..... unless they are really bad i would just patch the towers and the aprons but say the battery tray apron id replace if its rusted up....
all depends on the damage
all depends on the damage
yeah im gonna strip them and see the rust damage. the po decided to put rubberized coating on everything it seems on the outside. id like to keep as many original parts as possible since their all straight still. the towers seem to have holes at there bases so thats why i thought replacement but if they can be patched that would save me completely pulling the motor
