Default EFI suggestions

im wanting to throw a fuel injection system on my 289. i want to be able to hook a laptop to it and adjust my idle, timing, air/fuel, ect.

can this be done with a fox body style system or do i have to go aftermarket?

Aftermarket typically. You could go the simplest route with FAST's EZ-EFI that comes with it's own module to adjust things like that, and you give it target AFR's and it uses adaptive learning algorithms to self tune, like how most factory EFI systems are now. They also have their XFI which requires tuning with a laptop. Edelbrock's new Pro Flo XT can use their module, or you can map larger tables with a laptop. Accel has kits as well as Holley.

There's a lot of options out there.

The factory EFI on the Fox Mustangs was EEC-IV. I don't think you can use a laptop to program them, you have to burn a chip.
