Sound proofing

Sound proofing
Lets face it, our cars arent like new ones. They rattle, they rock and theyre pretty noisy if you have cool exhaust. We'll tonight I installed some matting material, like dynamat, and it solved the rattling problem I was having in the back seat. My exhaust sounds more pleasant, and I can actually hear my speakers and feel my subwoofers.
here are some pics:
Before:
Interior Quarter panels:
This was amazing! before, I could hold one up and hit it like a gong, and it would sound like...well...a gong. With the matting material, it felt like I was knocking on someones front door. Very dense and thick sounding.
I stuffed the seats with some carpet padding. Theyre more firm now, and more comfortable as well. Not as springy feeling.
I bought 36 sq feet of fatmat ( http://www.fatmat.com/fatmat/bulk/36%20Sq%20Ft.htm ), and used all but one sheet (sheets are 18" L X 32" W).
It's not too pretty, but it works real well.
If any of you are thinking of installing some, let me give you a word of advice. Use a roller to smooth out the mats. I cut myself too many times trying to use my fingers to lay down the edges. The top of the sheet is aluminum, and its pretty thick (i.e. a lot worse than a paper cut).
