converting to electric fan ...
#21
Three strikes to raise an old thread
I was messing w/ my car and I tested fans. One relay was not responding.
I have two completely independent fan systems and this is the third failure in about 10 years.
1. Fuse lost continuity; did not blow.
2. Unsealed relay failed; replaced both relays w/ sealed type.
3. Blown 20A fuse; will replace w/ 30A .
I yanked out the fan on pump side. I connected both independent switched relay wiring systems to front fan. May carry my spare OEM 5 blade 1979 mechanical fan in the trunk when I go on long trips. Not sure.
Sure looks sweet...all that space in front of pump...now i can see that expensive march pulley system.
From a practical perspective it would be wise to run the 5 blade mechanical fan. Would minimize underhood temps and likely increase reliability; at the expense of beauty.

i'm really enjoying that new found space between radiator and pulley.
now I can easily turn engine w/ socket wrench.
thinking about swapping to a solid flat tappet cam.
tired of the typical hydraulic valve collapse w/ high spring rate cams resulting in ticking.
i do have a pic of my geometry which is so so.
