Default Steering Pop

Occasionally there is a loud pop or clunk from the front of the car when I turn the wheel all the way to the left or right. It seems to only do this when I am stopped and then hit the gas (it won't do it if I am already moving). You can actually feel it in the steering wheel, like something is binding up. I'm pretty sure my idler arm needs to be replaced but would that cause this problem or is there something else going on?

If you are getting a pop I have found that it is usually the upper A arm shafts that are worn out and making noise. Good time to rebuild the whole front end.

Did you or someone else adjust your gear box? I found out when I was younger that if you over adjust them they will pop when you crank on the wheel.

Yes I did adjust it awhile back because I had slop in the steering wheel, it's very likely I over adjusted it. How do I know when I have it adjusted right?

I started changing my shocks and installing roller perches today... so Ive sucked spring up and I'm taking loose the old perch..and I notice my whole upper arm move. WTH??? I can grab it and move it with my hands. either the UCA attach bolt is loose, or I've lost my shims... geez...I've not had it aligined in probably 5 years. hmmmm

You can follow these directions: http://www.stangerssite.com/adjustment.html

or just back the screw out a little at a time until the pop goes away.
