Cool New Carb

I finaly replaced that crappy Edelbrock 600CFM carb with an Autolite 4100 and my 65 FSTBK is running better than ever, but had to order a New Aircleaner 4 her I ordered the 65 HI PO air cleaner. I couldn't be happier about it

I don't have any real issues with the 600CFM Edelbrock on my 331. They need to be tuned like any other carb, but once tuned they work just fine. They're also very easy to tune once you understand how they work.

That said, Autolite 4100's are great carbs for a stock or mild small block. They're about as simple as it gets, and they atomize fuel very well.

ya. the 4100s are nice. but the edelbrocks are in no way bad. they do make power if tuned correctly. good thing is when you get a stock 480cfm autolite4100, then chances are high you don't have to mess aroud with it much to get the car running great

What was so bad about the Eddy carb. I have one and it works fine.

Those HiPo air cleaners are cool.

I wonder if my car would be better off with and Autolite carb.

take your pick:
- not maintained
- not adjusted to engine demands, fuel pressure etc

The factory Hi po 289 used the 4100 480 cfm carb. Shelby put the 715 cfm on his for racing. the Edelbrock is basicly the same as a quadrajet carb, which go on chevys. but if you are haveing good luck with it thats great.no one in this area that I know uses Edelbrock they use Holley or Autolite

the edelbrock 600 I thought was a copy of the Carter / webber AFBs....The Rochesters are a bit different platform I thought...at least they look scarier.

Another happy customer. Guess I'll stick with what I have, but a 4100 in 480 cfm just makes sense, if we're talking 289 street.

Thats very true. Because Ford HI PO 271 HP used the 4100 480CFM. Stick with what works
