Default E Brake problem with 4 speed??

I just switched to a toploader from a C4. I went to re-install the e brake and the shifter linkage is in the way and won't let the transfer bar move (or whatever it is called. The flat metal bar). Anyone else have this issue? Ideas?

Thanks, Jeff

Since the 4 speed linkage is on the side of the trans I don't see how it could get in the way of the ebrake. I would need to see a picture.

Huh? Because it hangs way down. I still need to know what shifter. Ask me why.

Not the trans linkage, the shifter linkage. The Hurst comp Plus hangs down a ways. Here is a pic. Thanks

Ok that hangs down a bit more than I remembered. Seeing a picture of his trans in the car would help to see exactly what he is hanging up on. Maybe he has the ebrake lever installed backwards.

Just as I suspected. The Hurst sucks in this regard. You'll have to reverse the S bend (and more) in the lever, to get it to curve around the shifter and the exhaust. Another reason I stopped using the Hurst.

Looks to me like you are going to need to modify that lever to clear the shifter.
