well I got through to compcams and they advised the same. use a checking spring and add 50/1000" for preload ... bollocks. not really in any mood for organising checking spring and trying to find gear for changing valve springs ...

If i find a different method, I'll post it !!
For checking purposes, just squirt oil in the side of the lifter until the lifter is fully extended, then check with that. That will give you a pattern close enough to see if the length is correct or not. If you're .030 off from a perfect length push rod, you will be okay.

might just do that. however once done I'll check again with ordered pushrods installed if I'm good. just to make sure.
it can't be worse than just throwing in the stock pushrods in hardened version.

ABSOLUTELY! You should always recheck a cylinder after you have the final push rods in hand.
