You can take the other end of your hose loose, take the clip out that is holding the hose into the bracket, pull the hose down a little bit to free it from the bracket and turn the hose. Be carefull not to kink the metal line.

I did exactly what rtintwo said, i loosened that bracket and was able to pull the brake line right out. nothing got kinked and it only leaked out a little brake fluid so I'm not worried.

@2+2 - Why would I be screwed? using a clamp I was able to get the rubber brake line disconnected. Why would I need to replace the entire hard line? please clarify???

If you try to re-flare it won't reach, you would have to do a small extension at that point. With brakes you want to have the least amount of connections. If you try to still use it, how will you know if it is tight if it is rounded. Don't rig brakes.

becuase the hard line has the connector that you loosen up.

the rubber hose is solid, the solid line is then screwed into it and compressed on teh flare.

if you ruin the nut the hard line is toast. well unless you want to continue to use vise grips to loosen/tighten it.

ok so the rubber side nut is the rounded one, I'll be using new ones anyway. Was I just confusing what the flare nut is? I sure hope so, I'm guessing now the flare nut is the nut connected to the HARD line?

by rubber side, I mean the rubber brake line which connects the hard line to the wheel. When I first tried to remove everything, I started on the nut connected to the rubber side and stripped it bad, making it round.

to be clear, the nut connected to the hard line is not stripped at all. tell me this is good news!

I had that same problem. I wanted to replace the rubber hose but it was solid and wouldn't budge. Ended up rounding the nut. I even couldn't get the retainer clip to come off. I ended up cutting the steel line and ordering a new one from Year One.

I think I see the problem, you tried to turn the rubber line while it was still in the bracket. You can't do that. The hole in the bracket has a flat in it to keep the rubber line from turning. To disconnect things back there correctly you need to use a flare nut wrench on the fitting on the hard line and disconnect the hard line from the soft line. Then you slide the clip off that holds the soft line to the bracket and you are done. If you are trying to turn the soft line with it still in the bracket it is going to FUBAR everything. It is the same with the front lines too.

I have actually never heard of anyone doing that before but I'm glad things worked out for you.

For the shocks, I pulled out the rubber plugs in the trunk and unbolted it from the top. Shocks fell right down. As for the brake line, the flare nut wrench stripped the bolt as well, so I basically used 2 vice grips and was able to get the job done.

thanks guys
