Default 16 trans on 289

hey guys i just dropped in a 289 my 68 thats which use to be a i6 ive put the TQ on to the shaft and bolted everything up and now it wounldn't go into none of the gears now could it because i didn't roll it around until it clicked twice?Or is do i have to change the shaft? or next time get a new tourqe converter? Thnks guys

I'm guessing TQ is the torque converter? If so, you probably didn't get it seated properly. You'll have to remove the transmission, or at least unbolt it and slide it back some, and spin the converter until it seats fully.

yes we dropped the tranny out but its doesn't matter what kind of TC i get? the thing iam worried is the i6 TC was smaller than the V8 one is bigger will the V8 TC just slide on as long as its for a C4 and its a 3 speed? because the one i seated wrong is used and most likely not good after looking at it but my friend said your better off getting a new one since the tranny is dropped out so iam hesitant to buy the right one.
