Default CS side scoops on a coupe?

Hey guys,

I am looking for a set of functional side scoops for my 67 coupe, which has replacement 67/68 rear quarters.

The best deal I have found so far are these ones for a 68 california special:

but I dont know if they will fit properly?

Any other suggestions of where to look for some functional sidescoops? Anyone have pictures of theirs?

thanks.

67-68 Shelby scoops will fit, but making them functional will be a challenge. The duct would have to go where the window is.

GT/CS scoops were not functional, they had black decals with perforated stainless grilles over them.

That is interesting. The 67 and 68 Mustang have a different slope to the quarter where the scoop mounts. So a 67 quarter requires a different scoop than a 68. You didn't say if you had a 67 or 68 quarters on yours. The California special had the same side scoop as a Shelby except that it was non functional. The site you link has 68 Shelby, 68 C/S functional and nonfunctional but no 67 Shelby listed so I'm confused. And why would a C/S functional be different than a Shelby scoop. If you have 68 quarters any of them will work. If you have 67 quarters none of them will work without mods.

I wouldn't do it either. Also, wouldn't the non functional scoops just create more drag on the car?

yes they would, thats why if i do it i want to make it functional.

basically what i have it a 67 coupe but the PO replaced the rear quarters on the car. as of right now, where there 67 inserts would be is just blank. I remember him telling me that they replacement quarters were the same for both 67 and 68 and if you wanted the 67 inserts you just have to cut out the holes to mount them. not sure if thats correct or not?

basically the car doesnt have the grill inserts and looks too bare and i want to do something in the area. im not really a fan of the grill inserts so i figured a scoop would be the next best thing (i want it fairly subtle not one of the ones that stick out really far), i will shave it down if i have to.

any and all ideas/opinions welcome thanks guys!

I doubt making them functional really makes much difference in drag.

The 67 and 68 quarters are NOT just blank, what he used was cheap "skins", I didn't think you could even get them any more.

Nothing wrong with the non-functional setup. There's just no room for the ducts.

The 67 and 68 quarters are not the same. The slope or curve is different where the fake vents go on a 67. It sounds like the PO threw some cheap 68 quarters on there. If that is the case then the scoops in the link that you posted will work. The PO telling you that to put the 67 vents in there all you would need to do is cut the holes is incorrect. Not only is the curve different, a 67 quarter has braces behind that the vents bolt to. 67 and 68 quarters are not the same. If I were you I would put the non-functional scoops on and call it good. They can always be made functional later on. But before you try it, tear the inside apart and look at all the window stuff that will be in the way. It won't be easy.

I like that blue 67. The hood looks great, just not a fan of the side scoops, unless its on a CS or Shelby.
