Default how to test engine

I just need to know how I can test my engine. Its been sitting a while, but turns by hand which tells me its not seized up inside.

how can I see if it runs for real or not? I want to make sure its good before I put it in next week.

let me know what I need to connect it to just to see if it fires up and runs, thanks

Do you have fresh oil in it? if not Id advice changing it, and the filter. Make sure the fuel is in.

I would suggest just seeing it if cranks since it turns by hand I am sure that it should turn over just fine.

how do I feed it fuel? I'll be honest, Im not a techie. I just know how to take stuff off and put it back, you know what I mean?

How do I see if it cranks? I'd rather get it to run completely if I can...

Connect to battery, give it fuel (how) and what else?

is the engine completely built, fuel lines connected, fuel pump working etc? spark plugs in?

if everything is installed and to your knowledge in working order, u just need to make sure the oil is changed and there is fuel in the tank, of course the battery connected etc

Then turn the key,...

well the engine is currently out of my mustang because I'm doing an i6 - 289 swap. I want to know how to test it before I put it in, or if I'm going to need to put this all on hold and rebuild it or buy a new one. The engine itself is built, I just need to put a new v-belt on and install the carburetor for it to be complete

OH OH OH ok lol, makes sense now...

I would say contact one of your local shops, or a school in your area the is specific for rebuilding engines/cars. They will need to hook up the engine to a machine or put it in your car and hook everything up to see if it runs, if u need to u can just add some fuel into the intake where the carb is set if you dont have the fuel lines completely hooked up.

but the best bet is to try and contact a shop that has the proper test stand for engines.

You could get an engine cradle and set it in that and try and turn it over in that and even start it. I would not recommend that however, i have seen several of them turn over on people. I'm sure this isn't the answer you're looking for but i would recommend just putting the motor in and trying to turn it over (have the coil wire disconnected so it will not start) and make sure everything is in working order. If everything seems to check out then go for it and turn it over and see if she'll fire. Good luck.
