Default 67 shifter?

A guy on craigslist is selling a complete automatic shifter setup for a 67. was just wondering if this would work on my 66? I would assume its the same thing but just wanted to make sure before purchasing.

No, the 67 shifter is NOT the same as 66. It will physically bolt onto the car, but has the wrong shift pattern.

Shifters are more transmission specific rather than car/year specific. The styling of the shift **** may differ from car to car but the shift patter is matched to a transmission.

Also you can look up parts interchanges for other Ford cars that used the same transmissions. Sometimes it's cheaper to buy a Falcon shifter that had the same transmission than a Mustang one. Just change the shift ****, if they were different.
