It looks a lot better then i thought it would have.As long as you don't find any nasty surprises you stole that car from him lol.If you don't like the rims sell them some people love those style wheels. If you need help on parts or ideas just ask.

That looks like a good find. I look forward to seeing it brought back to life.

I'm not a fan of the wheels, I'd like to put original wheels on the car. The current wheels are probably a couple years old but don't have any miles on them. They are 15" too. Any suggestions on wheels and where to buy them?

Thanks

I agree about the wheels. I never much liked that style. They are ok though, I guess.

If you want some nice factory type wheels you can get the chrome styled steel wheels in 15x7 from most Mustang parts suppliers. Do that and get some 215 60 15 BFG TAs and it will look awesome.

I have Magnum 500s on mine and wouldn't have it any other way.

A comment was made that the auxilliary cooler was not necessary, but the comment was made by someone in Pennsylvania. Since you choose not to put your location in your profile it's difficult to know if you need it or not. In the heat of Texas an aux cooler is a really good thing to have as long as it cools AFTER the radiator cooler and not before.

The life of ATF fluid is cut in half for every 10 degrees above normal operating temperature, which as I recall is about 180 degrees. In the Texas heat an aux cooler will maintain temp allowing full intervals between fluid and filter changes.

BTW, nice car. Please keep us posted on progress.

well that is a lot of car for that money if not rusted. Since it's an A-Code it came stock with 4barrell 289.

look around for wheels, make sure to ask (here) for fitment. Magnum 500s look great on those early fastbacks.

Update - took out the engine and transmission today. he engine bay has absolutely no hidden rust anywhere, should be very presentable after it's cleaned up. The transmission is an aluminum C4 and it will be going to the transmission shop tomorrow for a rebuild.

I talked with the engine shop today and decided on a balanced & blueprinted rocker cam 302. I've decided to keep the original engine in case I ever decide to sell or restore to stock.
