Default 1966 Fastback Questions

Hello,

I'm looking at buying a neighbors 66 2+2. I've always wanted one of these cars but don't know a lot about them. It is white with a red interior, 289 with an automatic tranny, rally package, deluxe interior. I have a couple questions:

What would be good references for someone to own if they are looking at buying one of these cars?

It has a strange (to me) tranny fluid cooler mounted next to the radiator at an angle. Anyone know if this is stock, or is it aftermarket?

Thanks much for your help

Owners Manual and Factory Shop Manual, at least.

Aftermarket. The cooler in the lower radiator tank is more than enough to do the job.

You know if you want it and have wanted one you should buy it.I have a early 65 FSTBK and my tranny lines connect to the bottom of the radiator, sounds like he put an after market tranny cooler which is no biggy I wouldn't worry about that at all

I bought it today.

$7200
a little surface rust but no major cancer to speak of. It needs an engine rebuild. I'll post pictures as soon as I figure out how to do it.

If in fact there is no cancer, that is a great price! Congrats! We need pictures... Be sure to check out the cowl, torque boxes, wheel houses, trunk, floor boards. Can you make out the engine code? What's the VIN? If you found a K-code you made out like a bandit.

I have to apologize, the pictures are of poor quality and the car has years of fine dust on it. I did check the cowls, climbed under the car and looked in every nook and cranny and with the exception of the passenger side of the trunk found only minor surface rust. I haven't had the car on a lift yet but am hoping for no surprises.
