Default My First Project!!

Hi everyone, I'm very new to this forum; just been reading over everything I possibly can.
Im only 20 and im taking on a '67 289 2v Arcadian Blue Coupe. Haven't checked all the numbers yet, but so far everything looks evenly worn (old as **** lol) and matches the VIN#'s but regardless got it from a buddy's dad for only $1000 and he's letting me keep it there to work on it in his garage.
So far I've replaced the master cyl. with a bigger dual res. and ran new lines from the mc to the fronts (which are drums all around). and My next step is to fully replace/restore all brakes/springs/hardware/drums all the way around.
Should be back in mere hours with tons of pictures.
One thing I was curious about was about paint[s].

or is it mostly just preference? as most of this car is dirty and covered in surface rust, much will be replaced but anything that isnt is going to be Thoroughly cleaned/sanded/painted/protected, whatever it may call for...

I know I haven't a whole lot on here, or a specific problem. Just taking a first post to say Hello MF! and tell you a little about my project!

okay so i dont know exactly what parts to order, the rear is 10"x2" but the front drum seems to measure 10'x2-3/4" is this stock? Havent been able to find drum in this size maybe im measuring the wrong part lol...would it hurt to just get 2-1/4" that seems to be stock? what else would i need to match the 2-1/4" size difference?

Yes, the front brakes are larger than the rear. There are many aftermarket sources for early Mustang parts. I expect that brake kits would be readily available from some of the Mustang Parts Specialist houses. Google up Early Mustang Parts or some such. The fact that most any part on these cars is readily available, makes the early Mustang a really good car for someones first project.

It looks to me like you have a good car to start with. I've seen some really great cars built from a lot less.

    Keep us posted.
