lol i like the super rare 4 valve 289 heads

 

i just bought some completly rebuilt/new heads for $150 ill post a picture of them when i recieve them.

 

i just got the heads i purchased......they are E5AE casting....does anyone know the compression ratio of these? should i just sell these and use the cash to take my rusted heads to the shop? these E5AE heads are in new condition and this is what the seller told me: they have 3 angle valve job and heavy duty springs installed. The guides have been knurled and new oil seals installed. These was magnafluxed and they were ground for flatness

 

I thought you were going to clean up the other heads and use them.

 

The E5s dont look to bad. The intake valve almost looks bigger then the 289 intake valve to me... but i think they are the same size? The only problem is, E5 heads have those thermactor bumps that should be ground down, and the combustion chamber is bigger, so you are going to lose compression.

JMD, while watching the video i was wondering wtf you were talking about a 289 head. lol

 

e5 heads either have either a 70cc or 63cc combustion chamber. 289 heads are 58cc. you will lose compression unless you mill the heads, especially if they're the 70cc version.

if you really want open chamber heads, the e7s or gt-40s are better. stay away from the e6s.

 

autozone will loan you a valve spring compressor leave a deposit and return it when finished

 

E5 Heads are the same heads as E7 Mustang castings...they arent to hot...if your gonna use some late model head pick up a set of GT40 heads from an Explorer they are better than the 351w heads from 1969-70 and already have hardened valve seats stock

 

theres not a small block ford head produced that is any good except the GT-40.. cleveland heads were nice, but they was big block
