Solenoid sticks when battery dies

Solenoid sticks when battery dies
Since I am still struggling with fixing my alternator charging issues, my battery just went dead at work today since I forgot to put it on the charger last night. But just like last time when it went dead, the solenoid got stuck. When the motor turned over very slow just down, I turned the key off but the motor still turned over a couple more times till it was dead.
This happened last week cause when I put a charged battery in the car and touched the terminal, the car jumped at me with it in gear. I changed out the solenoid and fixed it. But why is this sticking? Any way I can fix it without buying a new solenoid??
Thanks

Simple, when you crank a car that has a low battery, the cables and solenoid get really hot and it welds the solenoid points/contacts together... You should not crank a car with a low battery, you really need to fix your charging situation.
The quickest fix to a stuck solenoid is to give it a sharp rap with a screw driver or wrench (like a stuck carb float)... If that doesn't work, you're screwed, and you have to disconnect the battery.

I disconnected the batter cable right after it happened to keep my battery from being damaged. I'm having to take the battery out to charge tonight at home and bring back to work tomorrow. I guess I'll pickup a new solenoid as well to put on tomorrow. I hear alot of people carry an extra solenoid in their car!
