Default heater core

So just moved from TX to KY and went to pull the cover off the car when I noticed a small puddle under the passenger side. It was def anti freeze. so was curious when the drip was from under the passenger seat. So then open the door and feel a completely soaked carpet and the heater core cover dripping green. So I check the hoses first (no leak) then I pulled the clips and see that it is definitely leaking from the core. I bypassed the heater core, and now I ask do i really need to mess with replacing this, or should I just let it be and go with no heat?????? It's a weekend cruiser at best. I take it out for a 20-30 min ride then put her back away about 2 times a month. Does it hurt anything to not replace this right away or will things be fine with the hoses bypassed? thanks.

"Things" will be fine....... if you don't need heat or defogging it's no big deal.

A new heater core is less than $40 and pretty easy to install.

This is true but if you don't have the time and don't feel like spending the money right now just leave it. I drove my truck with it like that for almost a year before i finally got around to changing mine,

thanks everyone. I will replace it when I do my interior. I am sure it will be easier to do with no dash pad or glove box in. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't any immediate issues other than having no heat.

Like others have said it wont hurt anything. But sense your carpet got soaked you should pull the carpet up and make sure it gets a chance to dry out. Leaving the coolant soaked carpet on the floor pans will cause more rust issues.
