Question gt or not?

I have a 68 mustang GT. What decides that it is a gt.it has the badges and the fog lights etc.but is there a certain code that tells you that it is a GT.
The vin. is 8r02j164997.

The only way to be certain is to send off for a marti report. If it is a GT it will show under the options as GT equipment. Its $15 and takes 2-3 weeks to be mailed to you. The information on it is straight out of fords old records. There is nothing in the VIN or other codes that specifies GT as all of these codes and be ordered separatly. And anybody can buy a set of badges and a gril out of a junkyard.

If you go with the email option you will get the marti report even faster. I got my email just a day after ordering it.

Thanks for the info the car also has the GT-style pop open gas cap. How common is the overhead console, with map lights
